Tobacco is the foremost preventable cause of death and disease globally and leads to almost 10 lakh deaths annually in India. Tobacco is the risk factor for 6 out of 8 leading causes of death and is responsible for 30-50% of all cancers, heart and lung diseases. National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) is under implementation in 21 states (covering 42 districts) all over the country to reduce the use of tobacco and protect the health of people from harm effects of tobacco and Second Hand Smoke.

Applications are invited from young and dynamic professionals to take up the challenge of tobacco control at national and state level by effective implementation of NTCP.

The following professionals and support staff are required under NTCP :

Five National Consultants to provide technical assistance to the MOHFW in Policy, State Coordination, Laboratory testing and legal issues. Location : Delhi.

Five Program support Staff (One Program Assistant, Three Data Entry Operators and One Office Helper). Location: Delhi

Twelve State consultants (one each for) Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Location: State Capitals (of the respective states).
